Janet started working with glass because of her fascination with beads and making jewelry. Once she tried it she was hooked! She won
1st place in a jewelry competition in Southern CA sponsored by San Gabriel Bead Co. in October 2003. Pieces of her work will
be on display in the Brewery Gallery in Los Angeles in Fall 2004.
Janet said, "My glass pet charms began when I rescued a wild baby roof rat from the mouth of a cat on my front porch. Little Ike-ola
introduced me to the wonderful world of rats as companion animals. This gave me the idea of capturing the likeness of people's pets (and
my own) in glass charms that can be worn in jewelry designs. It has been very rewarding for me to do custom pieces from pictures or
descriptions people have sent."
"When Ike-ola passed to the Bridge I took one of her whiskers and burned it into a glass piece that I could wear. When I mentioned what
I'd done, others began asking for 'memorial beads' for their babies that had passed. I only hope this brings as much comfort to others
as it has to me."

"Thank you so very much for the rat charms. They arrived today. They're PERFECT! I love them so much! I'm still amazed at how perfect they are! You captured them perfectly. I even noticed that one of the eyes on the gray one was smaller than the other; perfect! My husband loves them just as much as I do!

I usually work from a picture or your description of the color and markings of your rat.
A pair of earrings for US$15 (sterling silver or 14kt gold fill ear posts/wires)
A single charm for US$8. I do sell charms alone or I can add any of the following for the additional indicated charge:
US$6 for a black leather neck cord w/fastener US$6 for a bracelet-length chain US$3 for a brass pin (w/beads in design) US$2 for a keychain If you don't have a whisker or fur I can add little glass wings to signify they are now little angels waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Shipping is $3.50 per order.
California residents please add 8.25% sales tax to the purchase price.
A portion of the sales will be donated to the Rat Assistance & Teaching Society.
